Since its creation in 1966, Avoriaz 1800 has always been a step ahead and has a responsible vision of mountain tourism.
The plateau on which the resort is built once belonged to an illustrious Chablais family, the Counts of Rovorée. Ceded to the municipality of Morzine, the alpine pastures took the name of "Rovorée" lands, then, over time, the pronunciation and the name of these lands evolved into "Avorée", then "Avoréaz" to finally become the name of Avoriaz (the "z" is not pronounced) as we know it today.
At that time, this very dry and not very fertile plateau had only a few chalets to shelter the shepherds who moved in with the valley's herds in the spring and moved out in the fall.

Parking: The resort is a ski-in, ski-out site. Covered parking lots are at your disposal at the entrance of the resort. We strongly recommend that you reserve your parking in advance.
When you arrive in Avoriaz, go to the reception dock where you can leave your luggage in front of the sign indicating the Dromonts area, before parking your vehicle in the parking lot you have reserved in advance (do not leave your luggage unattended). You will find at the level of the reception platform a transport service 7/7 and 24/24 by carriage or by shuttle to reach the hotel. Service at an additional cost.
